Danforth School Council
While our students eagerly look forward to the independence that being in high school offers them, it is often difficult as a parent or caregiver to know where you fit into that experience. There is, however, definitely a role for parents to play in their students’ high school learning.
For parents and caregivers, information is a key tool. The Danforth CTI School Council is an important source of information and resources that you will find helpful in being a part of your students’ high school experience.
Council meetings are an opportunity for parents to connect with the administration and staff in sharing information and ideas, discussing ways to enrich the learning experiences of our students, finding avenues through which to encourage parent engagement, and providing families with ways to make connections with other parents.
All of our Danforth CTI families are invited to attend our School Council meetings where your ideas, suggestions and opinions are encouraged and welcomed.
There are many ways that you can connect –
By email: Join our email list to receive important updates about the school, events, meetings, and information related to teenagers. School Council Email: DCTI.SchoolCouncil@tdsb.on.ca
In person: Come to a meeting. We meet regularly at the school to hear from our principal, and committees about what is new and changing. Ask questions. Meet other parents.Enjoy a light snack.
Just Listen: You are welcome to attend a meeting and not feel pressured to ‘work’. Come and just listen to what’s going on at the school. Feel free to share your opinion, viewpoint and concerns. Parents and Guardians from all programs at Danforth are welcome.
Participate: Join a team or committee to gather information and make recommendations about next steps. Share your findings with School Council and Executive.
Volunteer: Join the School Council as an elected member. Participate in regular meetings, and committees. Share your opinion about important topics and ideas related to the school and students. We ask that you commit to coming to each meeting throughout the year, respond to questions asked of the council members, and consider the best interests of all students of our diverse school community. Watch for the Application in the August mailing. You must apply to in very early September to be considered. Elections will be held at the first school council meeting.
