Students at DCTI can add a little literacy boost to their lunches, get creative with writing, or practice their French. Here are just a few opportunities available to students weekly at DCTI.
OSSLT Tuesday Boosts
In Room B75, Ms. Angeli hosts literacy sessions every Tuesday at lunch to strengthen skills for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test which will be written by Grade 10 students on March 30.
The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) measures whether or not students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
All students across the province write this test on the same date.
Get Creative on Wednesdays
The DCTI Creative Writing Club invites students to Danforth Dialogues every Wednesday at lunch with Ms. Liarakos.
Ms. Porteous invites students parler français on Fridays at lunch. Relaxed environment where students can strengthen their conversation skills.
Don’t forget! There’s also ongoing math support during lunch and Math Clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
There’s no reason to worry! There’s Math Help!
If you know a student who would like some extra help with math, let them know about Danforth’s Math Help. It’s available several days a week during lunch and on Tuesday morning.
There also are drop-in Math Clinics every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
