The TTC asked for help from parents and caregivers to reduce number of students avoiding fares.
Siting a revenue loss of nearly $20 billion, the TTC on November 8 asked for help from parents and caregivers to reduce the number of students avoiding fares.
Along with the call for parental reinforcement, the letter reminds parents of the current fare policy.
- Children ages 12 and under ride for free.
- Students ages 13 to 19 must pay $2.00 or use a student ticket or pass.
- Students aged 16 to 19 must travel with photo identification
DCTI students were given a warning in the daily announcements that the TTC would be cracking down on fare evasion in the coming weeks. Students who cannot prove payment can be ticketed and fined $235.
